November tends to be a slower month for sales and use tax changes. On election day on November 3rd several sales and use tax measures will be up to a public vote. Some asking for extensions of existing sales and use taxes and others asking for a new levy. Keep your eye out for these propositions in your ballot. |

Mexico VAT increase -vs- A new sales tax
While Mexico is experiencing its most severe financial crisis in 30 years, the Congress is debating a major tax reform. This afternoon the main opposition Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) voted, with 124 votes for and 41 against, to approve an increase of 1% Value Added Tax, currently Mexico has a VAT standard rate of 15%.
